
Safety
On our field trips we will usually be out in the desert so appropriate care must be observed.
Some basic items you should bring:
- Water, Water, Water
- Whistle
- Food (energy bars)
- Hat / Sun Screen
- TP (for those backwoods pit stops)
- First Aid Kit
- Comb (for removing cacti burs)

Supplies
When on a field trip it can be nice to have some supplies to make your trip more enjoyable.
Some basic items:
- 5-gallon bucket (for collecting rocks)
- Rock Hammer
- Safety Glasses (rock chips may fly)
- Safety Gloves
- Spray Water Bottle (for washing off those dusty finds)
Some more advanced tools:
- Cordless Hammer Drill / Feathering Wedges
- Small Sledge / Rock Chisels
- UV Flashlight (for finding rocks that fluoresce)
- Magnet
- Screens (for sifting to find smaller items such as fossils, gold, etc.)
